An individual who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and provided them to youngsters at a youth camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males both nine and 10.
The accused was arrested after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in July.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed one particular crime he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was remanded in custody ahead of a subsequent court date on late November.
'Candy game'
Mary Prior KC, prosecuting, outlined the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he ran.
Ruben played a "treat game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She said the man had been able to explain this repeatedly as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his stepchild had concerns about the activities, justifiably.
"They decided to examine in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC said items including infant oil, ointment and syringes were located, and his stepchild notified the law enforcement about his concerns.
She said the defendant went on to engage in the "treat game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that stage," she added.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, had stated that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the events.
The prosecutor said the minors were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson notified the police a second time.
She said the defendant then played the "treat game" in a space of five youngsters.
