New England Match Longest Victory Run Since Brady Era with Triumph Against Jets
Rookie Henderson has tallied five touchdowns in the present year
The New England Patriots equaled their longest winning run since the Brady era as they overcame AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie Henderson led the way with three scores as the Patriots claimed an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Maye accumulated 281 yards and a TD, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The win increases the Patriots lead at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York bottom after dropping to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had gone in front at their home field with QB Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to cap the New York's opening drive
But the home team responded in the second period as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the running back caught a pass from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone in the middle of the third period to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," Maye commented on Henderson. "He desires to be excellent."
Fields threw to Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Borregales booted a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side closed out the victory
