Donald Trump Scraps Proposal to Send National Agents to Northern California

The President has abandoned plans for a dispatch of federal troops to the Bay region that had provoked extensive opposition from state officials and sent activists pouring onto the city centers.

Regional Concern Over Possible National Deployment

The region had been anxious after information circulated that the leadership was poised to send more than 100 border control and other federal agents to the US Coast Guard base in across the Bay, as part of a large-scale immigration enforcement plan.

Executive Decision Following Talks

However, the national leader announced he would not proceed with a “increase” of government personnel in the region after meeting with the local official, city leadership, and Silicon Valley executives including Marc Benioff and Nvidia chief.

“Through our exchange, the national leader assured me clearly that he was calling off all arrangements for a federal deployment in San Francisco,” the mayor commented in a release.
